Washington Capitals unveils a new design for caps jerseys and this is their third-time upgrade and change to their jerseys.

The third jersey will be worn for the next three seasons, including seven home dates in 2020-21.The Washington Capitals will wear their third jersey presented by Washington Capital One. In addition to that, it modeled after the team’s 2018 NHL Stadium Series jersey.

For seven home dates during the 2020-21 season, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today. The team will wear across the next three seasons. The blue jersey will be worn once against each team in the East division. They are debuting tomorrow vs. the New York Islanders.

The large W on the front of the jersey serves as a tribute to Washington, D.C.. The Washington monument structure peaking in the middle of the W. The “W” stands alone as a Capital Letter to symbolize the strength of the nation’s Capital. The color scheme aligned with the United States of America’s flag.

Every each color is also representing attributes displayed by Capitals fans. Red stands for dedication and white represents loyalty, and blue honors the community. The Three Stars represent Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia.

During select games, the third jersey is worn caps jerseys. The Capitals will honor a frontline worker as the team’s Blue Star of the Game.

The Blue Star of the Game will be spotlighted. It will receive a jersey and be an honorary member of the games. It will be starting the lineup in honor of its efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
