Minnesota Wild reach 1-year deal with veteran defenseman Alex Goligoski
The Minnesota Wild continue to expand their defense and agree to a one-year, $ 5 million deal with Alex Goligoski, general manager Bill Guerin said Wednesday.
With the play, Goligoski returns home. The defender is from Grand Rapids, Minnesota, and played three seasons for the University of Minnesota.
“He’s home. Everyone has the desire to play for his home state at some point,” Goligoski told reporters. “I think it fits me perfectly.”
The 35-year-old veteran hasn’t shown the offense in recent seasons that he showed early in his career. But was still in charge of himself and ate minutes for the Arizona Coyotes, finishing second in the Ice Age last season.
he had scored three goals and 22 points last season. In total, he has 83 goals in his career and 429 points in 924 games in his career.
Goligoski won a Stanley Cup with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009. After more than six years with the Dallas Stars, he signed a five-year contract with Arizona and should be one of the pillars in the team’s turnaround.
However, the Coyotes hit the reset button after reaching the playoffs only once in the past nine seasons.
On other trains, the savages signed Frederick Gaudreau on Wednesday to a two-year contract worth US $ 2.4 million. Forward Dominic Turgeon and defender Jon Lizotte signed one-year contracts with the team, and defender Joe Hicketts received a two-year contract.
